Shipping Container Care Instructions

Below are our care instructions to follow for:

• Installing a shipping container onto your property
• Loading a shipping container
• Opening and locking your shipping container
• Keeping your container free from condensation

Installing a shipping container onto your property

IMPORTANT: Your shipping container must sit on a level surface at all times.

This is so:

• The doors can open and close properly
• To ensure the doors don’t rack (if you place them on an uneven surface, over time they may fall slightly out of place and won’t close properly.)

We recommend placing them on a level concrete surface or specially built concrete slab or corner blocks (if placing them onto a grassed area). Do not place them directly onto grass or mud or use tarmac over a grassed area as this can change position over time.

If you want to place your container on any surface other than level concrete, prepare your space with one of the following:

1. Concrete slab
2. Concrete footings for shipping containers
3. Wooden blocks

It is recommended that a gravel bed is made under the wooden beams to help with drainage, keeping the beams dry and preventing premature rotting. You want to ensure the container is sitting on its corners, all four corners are level with eachother and the floor or crossmembers on the underside of the container do not touch the ground.

Prepare your space before the driver arrives. The driver check to ensure the doors open and close properly after the container is in position, however if the container is not placed on a level surface and the doors rack as a consequence then Cargostore will not be held liable.

Loading Goods Into Your Shipping Container

STEP 1: When you load your container, ensure to spread the load evenly throughout the container.

STEP 2: Leave a space around the sides and roof to allow for airflow.

STEP 3: Make sure your goods are dry before placing them into storage. Damp goods can cause condensation.

STEP 4: If not using Absorpoles, open the doors weekly to avoid condensation.
