What is a Dangerous Goods Container?

A dangerous goods container is a shipping container with a bunded floor that catches spillage of chemicals, dangerous liquids, and powders during transit. These containers are watertight, have special ventilation inbuilt to allow for the dispersal of vapours and fumes, and are lockable to prevent theft.

Cargostore’s containers are ISO certified which means they can be stacked and transported by ship as well as truck and rail.

What items are considered dangerous goods?

Dangerous goods are products that have hazardous properties and, if not properly controlled, present a potential hazard to our wellbeing as well as their surroundings.

There are nine classes of dangerous goods which are: explosives, flammable gases, flammable liquids, flammable solids, oxidizing, toxic & infections, radioactive, corrosives and miscellaneous.

Why do we store dangerous goods differently?

We store dangerous goods differently to ensure the safety of those who work with containers or in the surrounding environment. The International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code also includes a subsection on gases and chemicals regarding the safe storage and transportation of hazardous materials.
