Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Offshore (DNV) and Intermodal (ISO) containers?
Containers that are DNV 2.7-1 certified have met the safety standard required for equipment to be used offshore on wind or oil and gas platforms. All of Cargostore’s offshore containers are DNV 2.7-1 certified. ISO containers are suitable for Intermodal freight transport which means they can be transported via rail, sea and road, and they are always wind and watertight. They are suitable for storage on land.

What is the difference between a new and used Shipping Container?
Cargostore’s new containers are one trip only containers (i.e from the manufacturer to the depot), they are wind and watertight and are good cosmetic condition. All Cargostore’s used containers are wind and watertight, and are pressure washed prior to being re-leased. They may be subject to some minor bumps and dents or marks on the paintwork. All refrigerated (Reefer) containers are run through a pre-trip inspection (PTI) prior to being re-leased.
Can Cargostore provide bespoke container modifications?
How secure are Cargostore Containers?
All of Cargostore’s Containers are constructed from heavy duty rust proof steel, and they are wind and water tight. For additional security we can provide a heavy duty container lock and attach a lock box, which you can learn about here.
How will I be invoiced for leasing or purchasing a container?
Unless agreed otherwise, containers that are purchased will always be charged up front and container rentals will be invoiced monthly. Please contact our Sales Team to find out more about payment terms and pricing here.
