Cargostore Blue Ocean Port Services Partnership

Cargostore Worldwide, the leading UK-based provider of DNV 2.7-1 certified offshore containers, is excited to announce its formal expansion into the East Coast US wind market through a new partnership with Blue Ocean Port Services.

We’ve identified the Port of Providence (ProvPort) as the perfect location for our first depot dedicated to supporting offshore wind projects on the East Coast of the United States. In order to provide our clients with the highest level of turnkey service for CCU handling and reefer management, we’ve teamed up with Blue Ocean Port Services (BOPS), a joint venture between Waterson Terminal Services LLC (WTS) in the Port of Providence and Maritime International operating from the Port of New Bedford.

WTS provides terminal and cargo handling services while Maritime International adds New Bedford’s largest cold storage facilities to its international cargo handling capabilities. This new venture not only combines the extensive technical and local knowledge of these two companies, but it also places our offshore CCUs and reefers in the heart of ProvPort and New Bedford, ensuring fast and efficient mobilisation combined with quality back up and support for our clients.

The US government plans to have over 30GW of offshore wind production capacity by 2030 and as an experienced provider of Cargo Carrying Units (CCUs) and Reefers certified to DNV 2.7-1 standard for offshore Europe and Taiwan, we’re committed to supporting many of our existing and new American clients in offshore wind on the US East Coast.

This expansion comes after our second exhibition at the International Partnering Forum (IPF), the US based offshore wind conference, which provided invaluable insights into the local market and the opportunity to establish relationships with partners and clients. We’ve already delivered various DNV 2.7-1 certified unit types to Providence, including Closed and Open Top CCU’s, Half Heights, Reefers, and Waste Skips, and we’ve secured contracts in support of the Vineyard Wind project.

Offshore Director, Sans Unkles said “We’re delighted to have signed this agreement with Blue Ocean Port Services. We’re convinced this new partnership will provide the high-quality support services for which Cargostore has become recognized globally, and we look forward to playing our small part in supporting the exciting plans for energy transition in the USA.”

WTS General Manager, Chris Waterson said “Blue Ocean Port Services (BOPS) was established to create regional collaboration, combining the expertise of WTS and Maritime International to better service the US Offshore Wind Industry in Southern New England. This partnership with Cargostore Worldwide will add value to our existing tenants and clients, as well as attract new users to WTS and Maritime International operated facilities.”

We’re excited to bring our expertise in offshore wind to the East Coast of the United States and look forward to working with our partners at Blue Ocean Port Services to support the growth of the industry in the region.
